They think they can self-authorize to remove funds from the linked checking account without your approval. They're nothing more than the mafia if you ask me. Honestly, when it comes to buying things online whether or not they have HTTPS/SSL is a moot point compared with the usual backend security of their database. I personally bought several servers from wine.com when they went bankrupt and I instantly had over 30,000 credit card holder's private information, enough to perform credit card fraud for the next several months. Fortunately I'm not a criminal. The point remains though that whenever you submit a purchase online, you're betting that the company won't go out of business. |
