windows vs linux
Does anyone know the market share of these two operating systems in regard to servers online. Im thinking linux is bigger but I maybe wrong. |

Depends.... Although we have offer windows hosting service, but our linux plans is high demand compare to windows plans.

I don't know the numbers, but I do know most major sites use Linux servers. I've also heard that Microsoft uses Linux for certains things.

Linux is definately more popular than Windows servers.

We started offering Linux 5 years ago and added Windows to our hosting plans 2 years ago. Our Windows account are about to surpase our Linux accounts. There is a bigger market for Windows and even though most people can host on Linux they think since they have a windows pc at home their hosting must be the same.

Linux is cost effective than windows because it is free and open source, it's much more secure and has more stability than windows. In hosting business the market share of linux is high compared to windows because of these features. Windows is expensive and is good for personal or home use.

Linux have many advantages over Windows in price, performance and security issues. About market share not sure but Linux should have wider share than W.
