Just to spread the good news/wealth...

You can claim up to $100 (to spend on any computer/software/related
product from any vendor) without documentation of the Microsoft
product you purchased. For those of you non-CA residents I think as
long is the software was intended for CA use would it be
legal...YMMV. I guess you can claim more if you kept documentation
(which I didn't.)

click the link, since you live in CA, obviously click the CA link, and then click the procedding link about the claim form, fill it out and you should get it in the mail. i got mine yesterday, i have yet to fill that out then mail it off

yes, this seems like a win-win situation, you can get $100 back without ANY documentation.

show them some documentation of you owning their software (legit, of course) and you can get even more
