Post How to Choose the Right Domain Name

While registering a domain name that your main company website will use, I will indicate certain things that you should avoid:

*There is a possibility of forgetting your domain name while typing the name into the browser or e-mailing you if you use a hyphen. So, avoid hyphen to reduce future problems.
*Try not to use digits in your domain name. For example, if it is 3.com, you have to inform everyone that it is "4" instead of "four".

With regard to your domain name, I will show some positive things:

*To just make it better than others, try keeping simple spellings.
*Make it as short as possible as the maximum length should be 3 words or 20 characters.

Why not use digits? If your business name includes digits I think that would be good idea to have the same domain name.

That's right Richard. Generally users avoid using hyphens in their domain names. This is obviously a personal preference, but sometimes hyphenated names are more difficult to remember.

If you're able to, register your domain name in all the most popular TLDs.

Now really who actually types a domain name in the address bar? From what I have seen most people are so lazy they just want to click on a link or when they put a poof of effort into it, they will begrudgingly do a Google search. Just my double penny thought.

However, one should make sure it is easy to read with the intended meaning and also easily pronounceable.

I personally think that the domain should be unique, catchy, memorable and short..

Or at least if it is a long domain it should tell people exactly what it is you are doing. For example I own buyandsellwebdomains.com I think from an SEO standpoint that is perfect as this is the term people will punch in on a search engine in order to 'buy and sell web domains'.

    Cheers,

I also agree that digits shouldnt be placed in the domain name, it just doesnt look right even if the company does have numbers in its name, i dont think companies should have numbers in its name either but thats just my opinion
