Default What would you do if your desired domain name is taken?

Hey Guys, I know it's frustrating that when you find out the domain name you wanted is already taken, especially the most desired extension that is .com. What you would do? Would you look for some other related names or register the other extensions like .net, .org or ccTlds if they are still available.
I would like to hear your comments and suggestion. Thanks!

Coming up with some other name is the best option.

if the domain is for a business and a competitor already has the .com I'd think up alternative names...if it's for personal use I'd try for the .net

I agree with mr Rumsfo in here. What you need is invite something new and mot appear similar to your competitors. Be different.

    1. Contact current owner of the domain name to understand if that would be possible to negotiate

Personally, I'd NEVER buy a domain name from a cybersquatter. I don't support that business model.

From past experience you just try another domain name in the .com namespace. Change things up. Get clever with the spelling but so much so that your userbase doesn't try to go to the expected/standard spelling.
