I have built Joomla sites for a while, but recently I was asked to transfer a regular html site with no db to a new host. I coppied the files from the old hosts www folder to the new cpanel hosts publichtml folder. When I type the ip address in, it says not found. Shouldnt the ip reach the website even though there is no domain pointed at it yet?
It seems that you are doing something wrong. Here is the issue of temporary URL when the domain is not pointing to your hosting server. You need to consult your hosting provider in this regard.
